Project Description

NicNevol (through Bensatec Geosciences, Inc.) provided geotechnical field and laboratory testing services for drilled shaft construction along Gale Lemerand Drive and Stadium Road at the University of Florida campus in Gainesville, FL. The project supported the installation of deep foundations associated with new utility improvements and roadway upgrades within a high-traffic campus corridor.

Services included drilled shaft inspection, slurry evaluation, concrete sampling, and laboratory break testing for verification of structural concrete quality. Field technicians monitored construction activities, documented shaft conditions, and coordinated closely with contractor personnel and engineers to ensure full compliance with FDOT and project specifications.

NicNevol Responsibilities

  • Performing drilled shaft construction inspection and slurry testing.
  • Sampling fresh concrete and conducting laboratory compressive strength tests.
  • Monitoring field activities and recording data on shaft construction and pour quality.
  • Documenting geotechnical observations and maintaining compliance with FDOT standards.
  • Providing engineering review and certified laboratory reports.

Project Highlights

  • Inspection of three drilled shafts with slurry monitoring and concrete placement oversight.
  • Comprehensive geotechnical documentation of shaft conditions and field procedures.
  • Laboratory compression testing on cast-in-place cylinders to verify concrete strength.
  • Final certified test results and daily field reports provided to the client.
