Project Description
NicNevol Engineering Services performed a geotechnical exploration for a proposed Construction & Demolition (C&D) debris disposal facility (~20 acres) in Interlachen, FL.
The study evaluated subsurface conditions to support design and permitting. Field activities included Standard Penetration Test (SPT) borings, laboratory testing, and groundwater observations. Soils encountered consisted of medium dense sands underlain by clayey sands and sandy clays, with shallow groundwater at approximately 5 ft below ground surface.
Engineering recommendations addressed site preparation, excavation, fill placement and compaction, drainage/stormwater management, and foundation design considerations for ancillary structures within the facility.
NicNevol Responsibilities
- Performing subsurface investigation with SPT borings.
- Logging soil profiles and groundwater conditions.
- Conducting laboratory classification and moisture testing.
- Preparing recommendations for excavation, fill placement, and compaction.
- Advising on stormwater/drainage management and groundwater control.
- Delivering the final geotechnical report with design parameters.
