Project Description
NicNevol Engineering Services performed a geotechnical exploration and evaluation for the Washechek Residence following reports of structural distress (wall cracking and settlement). The study evaluated foundation soils and groundwater to determine contributing factors and develop corrective recommendations. :contentReference[oaicite:0]{index=0}
Field work included four (4) Standard Penetration Test (SPT) borings to ~24 ft. Subsurface conditions showed very loose sands in the upper 4–6 ft, a hard layer near ~8 ft, and weaker soils below; groundwater occurred around 3.75–4.25 ft depth. Lab testing confirmed sands with low organics and weak densities. Recommended actions included undercutting weak soils, replacing with compacted structural fill (95% Modified Proctor), and groundwater control during construction. :contentReference[oaicite:1]{index=1}
