Project Description
NicNevol partnered with FDOT District Two on the mill, resurface, and minor widening of SR 500 (US 27A), an essential east–west corridor through Levy County. The project extended from NE 8th Street to CR 124, covering approximately 5.7 miles of roadway, improving pavement durability, ride quality, and safety.
The scope of work included milling existing asphalt at depths ranging from ½ in. to 4 in., placement of new asphalt courses (Type SP structural ≈2.5 in. and FC-12.5 friction ≈1.5 in., PG 76-22), widening, shoulder treatments, and drainage improvements. Additional tasks involved upgrading roadway signage, refreshing pavement markings, and installing sinusoidal rumble strips to enhance driver awareness. Environmental controls such as silt barriers, inlet protection, and stormwater pollution prevention practices were implemented to ensure compliance.
